March mascot madness.
Two mascots get into it at a mid-major championship game. One of the masks comes off. A cheerleader tried to separate them.
And after the video, ESPN “experts” Rece Davis, Digger Phelps and one Robert Montgomery Knight break down the film and tell old mascot stories. If only I was kidding.
There are only two things I can really add to this:
1. I saw the school with the Jaguar mascot, IUPUI (Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis) or better known in sportscaster and fan parlance as “Ooey Pooey,” play Kentucky in the first round of the NCAA tournament a few years ago in Nashville. As I recall, Ooey Pooey’s coach, Ron Hunter, was a pretty suave dresser.
2. I was at a Kentucky-Florida football game a few years ago when the Wildcat and the Gator got into a fight on the sidelines, which I was unable to see because I was in the pressbox. Details are a bit hazy, but a female was inside one of the mascot uniforms, and she broke one of her legs. And I think there was a lawsuit involved.
