Why stalk somebody who has a fictional profession of stalking for a living?

I watch a lot of television.
The Office, of course, is my favorite show. I like 30 Rock. I just started watching House, and it is growing on me.
My DVR, which I set up at the beginning of the season, had about 17 or 18 shows tagged to record new episodes. And a few of those shows are now canceled, which included the brilliant Journeyman, the so-so Bionic Woman and Cavemen, which I thought was a decent comedy, but was basically dead on arrival because of horrible reviews from all directions. Nevertheless, I watched every episode of each series.
Like any fan of television shows, I have my guilty pleasures. Gossip Girl is one of them. (Shhhh, don’t tell anybody.) And another one, which I caught up with reruns on the A&E Network, is CSI: Miami.
Actually, I’m not being entirely truthful here. My interest in the show piqued when I saw a YouTube clip, more than seven minutes long, of David Caruso (Horatio Caine) one-liners to start each episode. While I thought it was hilarious over-acting, he just looked to be one of the coolest characters on television. You could just see his steely eyes pierce through the heavy tint on his sunglasses, and if you were the bad guy, you knew that the law basically had you by the balls.
Either that, or you were dead.
So I was surprised when I saw this story a couple of days ago about an Austrian woman who was stalking and threatening to kill the CSI: Miami star. Like a lot of stalkers, there is some evidence to suggest that she was going after Horatio Caine, not David Caruso. (She probably knew about Caruso’s bad career choices after NYPD Blue, and figured Caine wouldn’t make similar mistakes.) She even made references to killing Caine’s fiancee on the show, but as the story says, she was killed by the dangerous Mala Noche gang as they were headed to the altar.
So why stalk Horatio Caine? Technically, what Caine does is stalk…stalk down criminals and bring them to justice. And he and his fellow CSIs, mainly Eric Delko and Callie Duquesne, are two of the best in the business. And they have really cool computers that run through evidence. So why would this Austrian woman do this? She is crazy, but she has to realize she is playing with fire.
